Our 3rd Grade Curriculum - 2015-2016

We all fell in love with Sonlight last year, so when planning for this year it was a no brainer that we would move forward with Sonlight again this year.  The girls loved it, I loved it, and it was easy to organize.  I created my lesson plans 4 times a year in 9 week chunks and was able to stay on top of everything all year and I never got behind despite having a big move in the middle of our year.  I feel so confident in our choices again this year and know it will be another smooth well prepared year.  I love that the girls are excited about school again an we're only in our 2nd week!

Here's what we're doing for our 3^rd Grade Curriculum...

• Bible: Sonlight Core C, Jesus Calling for Kids
• Math: Math U See - Gamma
• Spelling: All About Spelling – Level3
• Writing: Writing with Ease - Level 2, Sonlight Language Arts
• Grammar: First Language Lessons - Level 2
• Handwriting: A Reason for Handwriting – C
• Reading: Library Books & Sonlight Readers
• History: Sonlight Core C (Ancient Civilization 2) 
• Geography: Geography Songs
• Science: - Noeo Chemistry 1
• Vocabulary:  Wordly Wise B
• Logic: Primarily Logic
• Language: American Sign Language   

I'm adding a few things to Sonlight becuase I wanted a bit more well rounded language arts program, but I do enjoy doing the Sonlight language arts along with everything else.  I'm amazed at what the girls were able to learn and retain from last year and can't wait to see how much they learn this year.  Most of all, I felt peace knowing we had made the right choice when almost every single day last year they asked me to keep reading and just finish up early for the week because they couldn't wait until tomorrow to find out what happened.  It's already happening again this year so I know we're off to a great start!

First Day of 3rd Grade | 2015-2016

I can't believe that we're starting our 5th year of homeschooling!  It feels like just yesterday we decide to give pre-K a try and it all seemed so daunting.  Although I still have moments where I question my sanity, I really feel like we have this whole thing down.  We're excited to start another year of Sonlight (the girls have been drooling over our bookshelf all summer) and I have no doubt we'll love it as much as last year.  Here's to an amazing 3rd grade year!

A little side by side comparison of how much my sweethearts have grown and changed each year we've been doing this.  And in case you didn't notice... we moved!  We now have a beautiful schoolroom right upstairs, and it even has a sofa so we can get comfy for all our reading together!
